🎓 **Big news for students and institutions across Africa!** Internet Village is building a **unified digital identity system** integrated with **Eduroam** — the global Wi-Fi roaming network used by universities worldwide. **What does this mean for you?** ✅ One secure login across all universities and services ✅ Automatic Wi-Fi connection (Eduroam) wherever you go ✅ No more juggling different usernames and passwords ✅ Secure digital certificates — like a trusted ID card for the internet ✅ Works across campuses, institutions, and national borders **The problem we're solving:** Right now, students and staff need different logins for every service and campus. Identity systems are fragmented and not trusted across institutions. 🎓 Our CEO at WACREN 2026 Conference — Advancing Open Science in The Gambia
Our CEO is currently attending the **Ministry of Higher Education, Research Science and Technology WACREN 2026 Conference**, hosted at the **Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre**. **#MoHERST #WACREN 2026 Conference** set the tone for advancing **#OpenScience** in The Gambia, emphasising its role as a critical pathway to maximise the impact of national research and investments. Discussions aligned strongly with the National Research Policy 2024–2029, positioning openness as central to the country's emerging research ecosystem. A key message across sessions was that Open Science enhances visibility, accessibility, and usefulness of research. By making knowledge openly available, research outcomes can better inform policymakers, benefit communities, and strengthen public engagement. Speakers highlighted that achieving Open Science requires three foundational pillars: **infrastructure, capacity, and incentives**. The Executive Director for **National Research & Innovation Fund (NRIF)** announced the launch of stakeholder consultations to guide Open Science reforms and identify capacity-building needs. 📅 **Day 2** will focus on Diamond Open Access, Africa Connect 4 Project Management, Network Monitoring & Management Workshop, and Trust & Identity (BoF).
